Anything in the public right of way — the sidewalk across your frontage and the driveway apron where it meets the street — needs a permit from Richmond County and an inspection afterwards. Can you extend the builder's slab rather than replace it?

Usually yes. The join is visible because the two pours are different ages, so we plan it at a deliberate line. It costs far less than tearing out something only a few years old.

Does the HOA have a say?

In several of the newer communities here, yes — covenants can cover finish and colour. Worth checking before you commit to a pattern.
